Trachelospermum jasminoides is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae, native to Japan, Korea, southern China and Vietnam.Common names include Confederate jasmine, star jasmine, Confederate jessamine, and Chinese star jessamine. Trachelospermum jasminoides is an evergreen woody liana growing to 3m high. When they meet a wet surface, they emit aerial weed roots, otherwise they surround the support (they are twining). If cut, like most Apocynaceae, they exude a white latex, resembling sticky milk. Young twigs, initially pubescent, become glabrous with age. The fragrant flowers, which are borne in spring to early summer, are white.The flowers pack a huge punch of sweet fragrance and can easily perfume an entire yard.In warmer weather, these fragrant blooms fill the air with their delicious, sweet scent. Star jasmine can tolerate partial shade but will flower best with at least 6 hours of full sun(not in hotter climates). Protect from afternoon sun in hotter climates.Intense or prolonged exposure, especially during peak hours, can lead to stress and scorch.

CARE TIPS

Plant in rich well-drained soil. Moderate water required; do not over-water. For any insect attack or disease, you can use Neem oil or organic pesticides. If you are planning to repot, it's best to wait at least 2 or 3 weeks after getting your new plant.

For best results grow this evergreen jasmine in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, with protection from cold, drying winds. Star jasmine doesn't require deep soil to grow well, and can be grown successfully in pots.
