Strophanthus gratus is a member of the Apocynaceae family and is native to western and central Africa. It is an evergreen, fast-growing,clambering vine or rambling shrub.The foliage is strong and deep green.Flowers in spring with clusters of showy, rose-scented, white or tinged with pink flowers with a darker throat, lobes with crisped margins. Flower shape has some resemblance to Oleander flowers and also to Allamanda, hence the two common names. The pink flowers are especially attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds, and boast a wonderfully fragrant scent. The flowers add texture to the gardens and create a stunning display.
