Russell’s Sweet/Garcinia Russelii is a close relative of Garcinia Dulcis. It was discovered by an Australian collector named Russell Francis. He took it from Bangkok, Thailand, on one of his trips in 1987. It was then grown in the northern parts of Australia. The fruit looks like a Garcinia Dulcis but the fruit is significantly larger and said to be consistently much sweeter with around 75% pulp weight. The taste was described by Russell Francis as "sweet yellow peach coupled with that distinctive mangosteen tang". The fruit ripens June-July in the southern hemisphere and December-January in the northern hemisphere. The seeds weigh 6.4 grams on average.
