Purple Forest Guava/ Psidium Eugeniaefolia/ Araca-Una is an interesting guava relative from the Atlantic rainforest region of Brazil, It is a bushy shrub tree, with glossy leaves reminiscent of Strawberry Guava, normally flowering has occurred after three years from seed. Purple guavas are round, muddy green to dark purple, smooth-skinned guavas. The inner pulp is a bright and translucent purple, with a slightly acidic and sweet flavor. The fleshy pulp surrounds multiple small, hard seeds. Purple guavas are typically eaten fresh. Purple Forest Guavas are a good source of vitamins A, C, and fiber, as well as potassium and magnesium, it is particularly rich in anthocyanins and carotenoids, most notably cyanidin 3-glucoside, lutein, and beta carotene.
