Pond Apple/Annona Glabra is an evergreen tree from the range of Coastal regions of tropical and subtropical South and Central America to Florida and the West Indies. Pond apples are often considered the black sheep of the apple family because trees tend to grow in rather harsh conditions of high salinity. The Pond Apple has a strong smell, resembling a special flavor, giving a hint of menthol, best to eat when fully ripe and soft, highly fragrant with a slightly sweet taste. The fruit is eaten raw or made into jellies or drinks.
