Lemonvine/Pereskia Aculeata/ Barbados gooseberries is a scrambling shrub in the family Cactaceae, a native to tropical America, shared names include Gooseberry, Blade-Apple Cactus, Leaf Cactus, and Rose Cactus. Barbados gooseberries are round or oval in shape and are identified by their shades of golden yellow or dark orange. Fine, smooth skin has a soft, juicy, opaque flesh with brown or black seeds. Barbados red currants taste acidic with slightly mild notes. This plant starts out as a deciduous shrub and then uses grapevine-shaped branches to climb and grow. Thorns can be found on the branches as well as the fruits, and the leaves are meaty and edible.
