If you're looking for a vine with Frangipani-like flowers, you might want to explore Allamanda (Golden Trumpet Vine) or Campsis (Trumpet Vine), both of which have similar tropical, trumpet-shaped blooms. However, if you’re truly interested in the Frangipani plant itself, it’s a small tree or shrub, not a vine, and it will need space to grow upright. Plumeria (Frangipani) can also be grown as a container plant if you’re limited on space and can provide it with the proper care: full sun, well-drained soil, and warmth. If you're looking for a climbing plant with similar fragrant blooms, Allamanda might be the perfect choice.

DIFFICULTY

Moderate maintenance

LIGHT

Sunlight: Plumerias need full sun to produce the most blooms. They should receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

CARE TIPS

Watering: While Plumeria plants are drought-tolerant, they prefer to be watered regularly during the growing season (spring and summer). Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings, and be careful not to overwater, as they are prone to root rot.
Soil: They require well-drained soil with good aeration. Sandy or loamy soil is ideal. If planting in a container, use a cactus mix or a potting mix with perlite for good drainage.
Temperature: Plumeria are tropical plants that do best in warm temperatures. They prefer temperatures between 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C) and are not frost-tolerant.
Fertilizing: During the growing season, fertilize your Plumeria with a high-phosphorus fertilizer to encourage blooms. You can use a balanced fertilizer (like 10-30-10) or a specialized Plumeria fertilizer. Avoid fertilizing in the winter months when the plant is dormant.
Pruning: After flowering, prune the plant to maintain its shape and remove dead or damaged branches. Plumeria generally doesn't need heavy pruning, but removing spent flowers can encourage new blooms.
