Dabai Exotic Fruit Plant (Canarium Odontophyllum)

Dabai /Canarium Odontophyllum is a fruit-bearing tree, native to Borneo to the genus Canarium in the family Burseraceae. It is locally known as Dabai in Sarawak and Kembayau in Sabah and Brunei. Its fruit is a prized seasonal delicacy in Sarawak. Dabai tastes like olives, carrots, and brie cheese when eaten raw, when soaked, it tastes like creamy avocado. After soaking, Dabai is seasoned with sugar, salt, or soy sauce. Being in the same genus as the Pili nut (Canarium Ovatum) the seeds are also edible and similar to almonds or pistachios.
