Cuban Mangosteen Exotic Fruit Plant (Garcinia Aristata)

Cuban Mangosteen/ Garcinia Aristata is a short tree, relative to the mangosteen bearing small orange-yellow fruits with soft pulp. It is one of a handful of Garcinias that has grown well in the high pH sandy loam at our farm in southwest Florida. Its unique identifying characteristic is its very handsome foliage that has a stiff needle-like point that is painful to touch. The fruit flavor is sweet, with not much acid, and might be described as a mixture of Garcinia intermedia and Garcinia livingstonei. Mild citrus tones dominate the flavor profile.
