Cocoplum Fruit/Chrysobalanus Icaco is an evergreen tree or bush native to tropical Africa, tropical Americas, and the Caribbean. Due to its appearance and easily manageable size, it is also planted as an ornamental shrub. White, mature, plum-sized coco plum fruit is delicious to eat. It has a somewhat acidic, bittersweet flavor and can be consumed raw out of hand or used to make preserves. The plant's seed is also edible and is said to be a wonderful honey plant. It has a high oil content and a nutty flavor, however, it is somewhat bland. Cocoplums contain high levels of lipoprotein cholesterol.
