Brazil Nuts/Bertholletia Excelsa is a dried fruit that is obtained from a wild Amazonian tree. It is a seed found inside a hard fruit with characteristics similar to that of coconut. These nuts are eaten raw or roasted and used to make cakes, cookies, and candies. Brazil Nuts are very nutritious, containing roughly 66% Fat or Oil, 17% Protein, and 7% Carbohydrate, an oil that is also made from the seeds. The freshly pressed oil is a pale yellow almost odorless with a pleasant nutty flavor that can be used like almond oil.
