Bor-Thekera/Garcinia Pedunculata is an evergreen tree related to the more familiar purple mangosteen that grows in semi-wild conditions and is widely distributed throughout the Northeastern part of India. It is a tangy fruit valued by the people of Assam. The tree has a fluted trunk with short spreading branches Smoothly textured fruit is yellow or orange-yellow in color. These fruits are ring-shaped and it has a juicy interior with edible arils. The ripe fruit is eaten cooked or raw. Usually, the ripe or raw fruits are sliced, sun-dried, and preserved. It is used as a medicine for Digestive diseases, Cleanses urine and feces, acts as a cardiac tonic, congenial for heart, severe constipation, abdominal colic pain, etc
