DIFFICULTY

Moderate - High maintenance

LIGHT

This Anthurium thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and cause discoloration.

CARE TIPS

Watering: Water the plant when the top inch of the soil feels dry. It’s important to provide enough water to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Humidity: Like most tropical plants, Anthurium 'Dr. Tom Croat' prefers high humidity levels of around 60-80%. To maintain humidity, mist the plant regularly, use a humidifier, or place the plant on a tray filled with pebbles and water.

Temperature: Maintain a warm environment, ideally between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes, which can stress it.

Soil: A well-draining, airy potting mix is essential for healthy growth. A mix containing orchid bark, perlite, and peat moss works well, as it provides good aeration and prevents the soil from becoming compacted.

Fertilization: Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding in the fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.
